Meet Janet Williams, Founder

About Janet Williams

Janet delivered her first diversity training session in 1998, which led to the initial founding of Progressive Discoveries. She has a rich background in consulting and has held contracts with well-known corporations to deliver solutions related to financial and business acumen, workforce and work process development, operations improvement systems, managing change and employee performance, assessing organizational culture, and designing DEIB and leadership constructs and practices. She is an expert at creating a strong sense of organizational community by building strategic synergies and closing culture gaps.

Progressive Discoveries, LLC. (2.0) re-opened in 2019, and Janet has revitalized her “no shame, no blame” approach to culture and DEIB work. The formula is simple: true diversity honors the value and contribution of every person, no matter what distinguishing characteristics they possess. Her approach encourages input and productive collaboration across functions, roles and hierarchies. She recognizes the beauty and benefit of differences between people, and helps to design respectful work environments that allow all employees to connect in meaningful ways to drive the desired cultural outcomes. She accomplishes this by leading from genuine acceptance, inclusion and heart.

Janet is a Certified CQ & Unconscious Bias Facilitator through the Cultural Intelligence Center, serves as a member of the Cultural Intelligence Committee with the “Unite As One” Beauty Industry Think Tank, is a member of the Professional Beauty Industry Compensation Study Think Tank, and a Board Member with Beauty Changes Lives.

She formerly served on the Board of Hope in a Box, which was an incredible non-profit organization that equipped educators with LGBTQ inclusive books, curriculum, training and mentorship. Their goal was to use literature to cultivate empathy and ensure that every LGBTQ student felt safe, welcome and included at school.

Progressive Discoveries, LLC. works with organizations in multiple nonprofit segments, including 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and public health plans, along with numerous for-profit industries, including beauty, health, wellness, environment, hospitality and more.

Although what these organizations produce is seemingly disparate, what they share is the desire to operate in work cultures that reflect their vision, values and goals.  Janet has the unique ability to design systems and facilitate interactions to unify and activate individuals and teams around their shared aspirations.
